I was sexually abused by my stepfather as a child and abused by my ex-husband who's in prison for spousal abuse and sexual abuse. That was then and this is now, I still struggle sometimes but it gets less and less. This is a new chapter for me going forward.

I love this song so much,I'm 65 & my first album I heard was threat to survival ,,,,& I fell in love with them then...3 years ago when they were at rocklahoma my youngest son & daughter in law went & saw them,,I have a t-shirt from there & my kids recorded when they introduced jelly roll,& they sang simple man,,,I was in love even more with them cause that song is the song I dedicated to my 3 wonderful sons,and WOW MY MIND WAS BLOWN...to quote Mr Brent Smith,,,,and I've listened to several of their albums & I've watched interviews & it just makes me love them more...he is such an open & honest man & all of his music speaks of all life's situations...his lyrics remind me of meatloaf his style of story telling & the way it touches the heart..and I mean that's a huge compliment from me.❤THANK U FOR HELPING ME FIND MYSELF & SPEAKING WORDS I COULD NOT FIND..IVE SAT &CRIED AND FOUND SOME INTENSE HEALING JUST WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTHS....THANK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF UR HEART & SOUL ALL OF U KIND GENELEMEN.

Never been a big Shinedown fan really. Never "disliked" them but they're a band I instantly change stations when they come on, unless it's this song.

Not sure about everyone else, but I'm 54 and been here since 2008 when this came out. This band has helped me through many rough dark times over the years and can't give them enough thanks. Remember friends, when you are happy you hear the song. When you are broken you hear the lyrics.
